I just took my first adult dance class tonight. I loved it! We were taught a jazz and tap combo. I felt a little awkward doing the jazz, but did better with tap. It was so much fun and great excersize. I can't wait to go back.

Ohhhh thank you for the dose of courage! I'm taking my first-ever ballet class this week, and I'm soooo nervous.

That was a song from way back ----------oh your momma can't dance and your daddy don't rock 'n roll.................way to go. Actually, Mom can and should dance whenever she wants in whatever discipline she chooses. We're da boss!

Go ahead and enjoy those classes. I'm not sure I'd try a jazz/tap class, but rhumba/salsa and ballroom and ballet are fun for me. To each her own.

That's great! I actually competed at Nationals for the Parent Dance at our school. Watching a bunch of moms & dads do Hip Hop is hysterical. Proud to say we got Extreme Platinum at DancExplosions!

Well, it turns out the ballet class is more intermediate, completely not suitable for someone who's never pulled on a pair of ballet shoes. So tonight I tried lyrical; more beginner-ish, but they're already working on improving basic stuff, whereas I need to be taught from square one. So I'm definitely going to tap. I already took the beginner class 10 years ago, but I'm going to take it again and really work on improving my skills there. It's the favorite discipline in our family; I was probably meant to be there all along anyway. Tippy tap!

It's so cool to hear of other moms taking dance classes. I have been interested for the past year but since our studio does'nt offer adult classes, I have put this on hold. i was lucky enough o find a studio not to far from where dd attends that offers adult classes. Once dd starts and things get squared with her schedule i am definitely looking onto class for myself. I have been wanting to take tap and am quite anxious to start......so which me luck

Wow, I'm impressed that you all have the energy to take dance classes at night. By the time I finish work, dinner, driving, etc. I am beat!
I am taking a yoga class on Saturday mornings and I love it!

OK, here we go! I'm signed up for an adult tap class that starts tomorrow night. I took 2 years of adult tap about 8 years ago (before kids!) and don't know if I remember much of it! I can't believe I'm nervous! I never had dance as a kid, so I worry about looking like an idiot in front of people who have done this before. I'm sure it will be fine . . .

Go for it stpierremom. You will surprise yourself with how much your muscles remember. The biggest thrill will be how great you feel coming out of that class. Besides, we are not responsible for what other people think, only how we see ourselves and how we act to improve ourselves and our own little corner of the world. And the other thing is that people who poo poo this kind of action are the ones who are too chicken to go out there themselves. So, get in that tap class and enjoy yourself!
