Reply with quote | #1 | My dd has been working real hard at getting her college apps out, essay's done, etc... Early last evening she checked her email and looked at me with tears in her eyes and stated, "I just got accepted". There is nothing more rewarding than to see how proud she was of herself that she was accepted this early into her #2 pick. One down four more to go. She said it was like a ton of bricks was lifted off her shoulders. Unfortunately the glory didn't last long when she was off to take her last set of SAT's this morning.
Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Reply with quote | #4 | Congrats on the getting through the first part of a extended process! Good for her! Next, after she has gotten all her acceptance letters from all the colleges that she would love to attend, she has to go through the agony of deciding which college to go to!
My dd agonized over the decision till the last minute. She made lists of pros and cons, talked to students, flipped coins, visited each at least twice, all the things one does to help decisions along. After many tears she decided - and it turned out to be the right decision. Phew! She loves her school.
Good luck on your adventure! Enjoy the ride! __________________ Michelle a/k/a Sara's Mom

Reply with quote | #10 | Getting the first college acceptance letter is one of the best things to happen to a high school senior - ranks right up there with meeting or exceding your goal for an ACT score!!
There is a really cute movie called "acceptance" I saw on Lifetime I think? Really, really cute about a group of h.s. seniors and the ups and downs of applying to colleges.
Anyone with kids applying to colleges should watch this movie!
BTW - dd has gotten 3 acceptance letters so far (Just heard on the radio today that one of her choices is ranked 18 of 20 of the top party schools !! Yea! __________________ The difference between try and triumph is a little umph! |

Reply with quote | #11 | congrats on the additional acceptances danceandcheermom - I'll have to see if I can track that movie down. Can I just say YEAH (not) for party schools? I have come to a place now where partying is such a reality in college. Instead of telling my dd about how not to drink, I'm trying to teach her how to be responsible if she decides to drink. I have been lucky in that she has avoided it at all costs in HS many of her friends have taken up partying like its an after school activity. __________________ "Life isn't about how you survive a storm; its about learning to dance in the rain" |
