I don't always agree with Dr Phil and sometimes find him a bit annoying but I heard about this show from a dancemom friend and started to read about it.

I think it would be a very helpful show for us moms to watch. No they don't talk specifically about "dancemoms" but the issues are universal whether its about having a child in dance or sports. Here's a promo for the show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kL71DcIzEZk

Here's a link to the show info on the site:

There's bits of episode video here and there. If you can find a way to watch the full episode, it aired Nov 4. Everyone may have access to different online tv resources...

There's a great little piece of advice from Dr Phil here:

I saw about 1/2 of the show. Honestly. Some people. That woman had no clue about what her dd was all about. It was so sad. Our favorite phrase was, "Can we stop now?"

I watched this episode yesterday as I was home sick. I don't believe the baton mom learned anything from that show and I think she will continue to treat her daughter the same way because the mom wants the awards. It is sad when parents push their kids because they the parents want the fame and glory or are trying to re-live their childhood through their children. If only they could see how they are hurting their kids before it's too late.

I went and DVR'd it for 11/11 when it's on again out here in AZ. So sad for those kids with parents who are like that.

I too get the sense the baton twirling mom didn't really have a great epiphany. I just hope the young girl isn't too scarred from the whole thing.

There are two moms from the old studio that are just like that batton mom. Nothing more then sad pathetic people who want to live through their children. I don't like Doc Phil really but I couldn't help but watch the show >_<.

I got your back Spitfire. There are times when Phil should get a wack upside the back of the head. I think mostly it's the stance that he represents social normalcy/stability or something. I don't recall signing over my independent thinking to some tv demigod thought police. There are times when he's right and this show was one of them.
