Okay. So I just figured out that dd only has 4 more weekend rehersals and then its show time. She is so excited this year. She has 3 great parts. She is the box doll (moore doll) in the party scene. Rat King in the battle scene and Spanish in the Magic Kingdom. She's mostly geeked about RatKing. They are doing 4 shows. Dec.5 & 6 and then Dec. 12 & 13. I was asked to be one of the parents in the party scene so I will be on stage with dd when they wheel her box out and she dances. That is gonna be so great to be that close to her when she's doing that part. I am so looking forward to that. I plan on giving her a wink while we're on stage.

Enjoy! It is so totally awsome that you will be on stage with your dd. I loved every second of being party scene grandma, especially the year my sister came from Cassadaga for Christmas and could see the shows too.

It's so odd how all Nutcrackers are different! We have "Spanish" but we don't have Magic Kingdom, Box Dancers, etc! We also have MICE and the Mouse King, not the Rat King. Ours is Dec 4&5th, too

I'm wondering if the Magic Kingdom is also known as the Kingdom of the Sweets? I've always interchanged mouse/rat king. There are a lot of Party Scene soldier/doll variations. Some even include a Moore and Columbine/Soldier.

Tomorrow is the last rehearsal for Sav. She performs next weekend!! I still have to get her a hairpiece for the party child. I am excited to see her dance the Butterfly part. She is so much younger than the other 3 girls. My father bought tickets for all her dance teachers so we are hosting them for dinner and then the show. I expect some tears as this will be her 1st performacne since we lost my mom in September. She so loved watching Sav dance.

How exciting! First times are so precious, moments to savor forever. Are the butterflys part of Waltz of hte Flowers? Carolina Ballet has a butterfly instead of Dew Drop Fairy in Flowers. I still get teary eyed at Nutcracker, remembering the first years and how much dd's grandparents loved watching her grow and achieve. I am convinced they watch through heaven's floor.
